Maize jerseys today… Let’s hope they aren’t butchered by adidas like the white ones.

    • Go Blue

I actually like the new jerseys, finally have a little style to them. Wish we had a strip or something on the shorts though, kinda plain.

  • Casey, CO

Let’s go blue! Glad to hear they’re wearing the maize uni’s today

  • Dylan Burkhardt

Quite a few notable results for Big Ten teams this weekend. Most notably Wisconsin falling at UNLV and Minnesota knocking off UNC. It will be interesting to see how Minnesota fares against West Virginia tonight.

  • Casey, CO

Minnesota is looking like a very solid team with Sampson III and Rodney Williams. MSU looked pretty sloppy against South Carolina also but they’re obviously a good team.

    • Dylan Burkhardt

I think Mbakwe might be the true difference maker for the Gophers. He appears to be a legit double-double threat every game.

      • Casey, CO

Wow man you’re right, I just checked out his stats. He seems to be pretty efficient too.

  • sven

That was a beautiful back door pass by Smot a minute ago.

  • Giddings

Really impressed with J Mo’s ability to finish around the basket and his connection with Darius. Too bad Darius couldn’t get the behind the back layup to fall.

  • Dylan Burkhardt

First TV time out. Michigan leads 8-4. Morgan with 6 points early on but also two turnovers.

    • Dylan Burkhardt

17-8 Michigan leads with 7:59 to play… Offensive points are at a premium in this one. Michigan struggling a bit with the 2-3 zone (not a good sign for Friday) but Gardner Webb is shooting the ball terribly, 27% eFG% thus far.

  • sven

Nice offensive rebound and 3 the old fashioned way by THJ.

  • Guy

WTKA isn’t actually broadcasting the game. Seeing as how I’m hundreds of miles from Crisler, I guess I’ll be watching the Lions lose.

  • sven

THJ nails a 3 with a man in his face Then Darius knocks down a 3 after a nice jab step.

  • Dylan Burkhardt

Michigan opening things up on a pair of threes (Hardaway then Morris). Michigan leads 28-11 with 4 to play in the first.

  • Giddings

J Mo and D Mo each with 10, THJ with 8. Bonus points to the Rage for the successful Chinese Fire Drill.

  • Casey, CO

Darius looks much improved on him jumper this season and he definitely is turning himself in to a play maker

  • Dylan Burkhardt

41-19 at the half. After a slow start offensively, things started to click. Hardaway (13), Morgan (12), and Morris (12) are all getting very involved.

Morris loves to find Morgan down low, a big reason for his 7 assists in the first half.

Michigan averaging 1.29 points per trip to GW’s .60 per trip. Michigan shooting 62% eFG from the field and also rebounding 46% of their missed shots.

Now Jalen, Jimmy, and Ray are being honored at halftime.

    • Dylan Burkhardt

Gardner Webb is turning the ball over on 38% of their possessions and posted an effecitve field goal percentage of just 35% in the first half.

  • Adam

D-Mo looks really really good this year. He has quite a connection with Jordan Morgan. Morris has really turned into a great playmaker and it seems this team could be better than most people thought in the beginning. Morris, THJ, and Morgan all look better than advertised, and they have a lot more depth this year.

  • Strokin It

While we certainly have exceeded expectations early on, the competition has been very poor. Just something to keep in mind before we start to increase expectations suddenly on the team.

  • Dylan Burkhardt

I’m glad that we have a Michigan basketball game to watch because the Lions game is a classic Lions performance. Anyone see that punt return? Only the Lions…

  • Adam VO

Syracuse 32 William & Mary 30 at the half

  • Alex

Gardner Webb is not a Syracuse but not a SCUS either at least from who’ve they played and their 3-1 record. They scored more than 50 on FSU not that I know what expectations are for that team. I think Syracuse will be a good test. Hopefully we keep that one close and make it competitive. I like how different guys seem to step up each game. Still a ton of season to go.

    • Dylan Burkhardt

This one is out of hand. Michigan leads 62-35 with 10:11 to play. Not a lot that Michigan is doing wrong in this one.Douglass in double figures now as well with 10 (including a transition layup and a three pointer after rebounding his own missed three). Morgan leads all scorers with 20 points.

  • MaizeNBlueJ

I’m following the game on my phone. It looks like we’re taking care of business. A few too many turnovers for my liking from what I’ve seen. For those of you that are watching, what am I missing?

  • Matt

lions might be clawing back into this game….should get my hopes up enough to sufficiently dash them in the end…

I really like the strides morris has made. I’d like to see novak and douglas more involved though. I think we need their experience on the floor against real opponents…

  • AG2

Looks like we got some serious scorers. I’d like to see how Jordan Morgan matches up with Fab Melo and Rick Jackson, though.

  • Matt

…and for those interested, UM soccer down 0-1 to UCF at half.

  • sven

We are just out hustling these guys now.

  • drae

Nice to see J-Mo, D-Mo and THjr score but what up with everyone else… Smotz, Novak and Douglas haven’t do anything?? To have a succesful season we need all guns to be firing… Not sure I like the Hot/Cold nature of Smotz game… Hoping he’ll continue to get better…

    • Gary

What does it take to satisfy you? Four players were in double figures. Of the three you mention, Douglass had 10 pts, 4 rebounds, Novak had 6 rebounds and the usual hustle plays, Smot had 7 points. Not everyone on the team will have a hot shooting hand every game. I saw a a well-rounded team effort today and that’s good enough for me.

  • Dylan Burkhardt

We’ll have video of Jalen, Jimmy, and Ray coming for you soon. Joe is uploading it now.

  • Matt

this game is what it is…I’m just glad we’re taking care of business

  • AG2

Both teams have hit 7 threes, but Michigan is up by 25+, the difference between a team that scores 50-60 points and one that scores 70-80 points is those layups and 2pt shots.

  • Dylan Burkhardt

William & Mary 54, No. 10 Syracuse 52 with 6:33 remaining. Might want to fire up ESPN3.

  • sven

I knew THJ could score but his passing also impressed me today.

  • AG2

…and Kitna runs for a 21 yard TD on 4th and 1. We got beat by Kitna, awesome.

  • MaizeNBlueJ

Syracuse leads 61-60 with 52.3 seconds to play.

  • Dylan Burkhardt

Video of Jalen, Jimmy, and Ray is up.

Beilein and player videos coming soon.

  • MaizeNBlueJ

    Final: Syracuse 63, W&M 60.

  • AG2

Michigan with the game winner in Extra Time beats UCF 2-1 in the NCAA soccer tournament.

  • JimC

OK what is our real-time RPI now?

I’m psyched up to upset Syracuse!

  • JimC

And hey I noticed JoMo scored 20 points in 21 minutes….
    He’s almost a ‘point a minute’ man!

  • drae

Easy Gary, there was a delay in the time I wrote what I did and when it posted.,, I wrote this @ halftime when there was only 41 points scored and of those 41 points 2 were scored by someone other than J-Mo, D-Mo and THjr… To win they’ll need a contribution from everyone which I like better than depending on 2 players like last year… Next Friday will be the true test…

    • Gary

No problem – the scoring was a bit lopsided in the first half. On the other hand, I don’t get the impression that this team is going to stand around expecting a couple of stars to carry them – something I thought they did sometimes last year. It won’t bother me if Smot or Novack is having an low scoring night as long as someone else is hot. They still have a lot of work to do and I agree the true test is when they start playing higher level competition, but I like what I see so far.

    • Kenny

A good team with a depth does not mean everyone scores 10 points a game, it means someone shows up every game with big numbers, more or less depend on the match-up.

  • drae

Point taken Gary and Kenny… If they can continue to play TEAM ball that the points will come…
