I'll take a B+, but this really goes to show how meaningless these reviews are. I bet this guy hasn't seen one of our recruits. For example, we all talk about Horford being the most likely of the bunch to redshirt, yet he writes “Jon Horford (Grand Ledge, Mich.) has an excellent pedigree, is solid and should be able to play a role, if needed, from Day 1”

  • JimC

The Detroit Free Press could have taken those 6 secondary violations, and made about 12 months worth of headlines out of it.

  • Bluebufoon

There are rumors of a visitor this weekend –does anyone know who ?

Is this why Coach Alexander stopped tweeting over the holiday ?

  • Brian W

NCAA investigating former Kentucky star Eric Bledsoe. Maybe the Derrick Rose situation at Memphis when Calipari was there is contributing to this.

  • Bluebufoon

DePaul signee Walter Pitchford, a 6-10 PF from Grand Rapids, MI has asked for his release from the Blue Demons in the next few days.

Should Michigan recruit him ? Will Michigan recruit him ? I think U-M will be involved.

  • Brian W

U-M may decide to recruit him, but I'd prefer that they go after Amir Williams, Marshall Plumlee, or Jalen Reynolds next year instead. Not that star ratings mean everything, but they already got Horford this year, which means taking a flier on a 2-star big guy might not be the best thing to do. My two cents.

This was from slam magazine, from earlier this spring

    Walter Pitchford | 6-10 | PF/C | New Creations (IN) | 2010
Pitchford is still really rough around the edges, but has tons and tons of upside down the road for a school that has time to develop a big man. Once committed to DePaul, it’s unsure if he will wind up heading there due to the coaching uncertainty that is going on in Chicago right now. What is sure is that Pitchford does a great job running the floor, is a very explosive leaper, and has shown the ability to hit the 12 foot jumper while facing the basket. There’s still a lot of work to be done before he’s ready to step in and make a major contribution, but definitely a name to remember for down the road.

What the heck. Here's a few more links on Walter Pitchford.

A Q&A on the New Creations team web page…

Recap from last year's elite camp…

Are we really surprised that Calipari is already getting investigated? How long will he stay at UK before he either ditches for the NBA where he can't get investigated for giving kids money, or finally gets in trouble for those two Final Fours that he has vacated?

  • Brian W

Tommie McCune played well in California yesterday. Here's a recap of EYBL Session #3 on Saturday:….

Kaleb Tarczewski is playing in the The Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions. This recap mentions that Tarczewski has a Michigan offer.….

  • Brian W

A different recap of the Bob Gibbons tourney with a few quotes from Marshall Plumlee:

  • Assuming U-M has seen his transcript, no way they recruit Pitchford.

  • JRose

Her's an interesting link with 12 facts about the upcoming UM hoops team.

  • polisci

Nice link. #12 is what scares me the most. Our schedule next year can make even an excellent team look mediocre.

  • Brian W

A decent article on Marshall Plumlee and Cody Zeller…

Also, Kaleb Tarczewski is going to attend the elite camp at Kansas. The 7-footer supposedly has a Michigan offer.

  • waymanbritt

Getting one of these highly rated players from Indiana or Amir Johnson would be huge for Michigan. Beilein needs to show he can nab the big fish.

Sometimes it just takes one player to turn around a program – you never know.

  • Colby

When is the Elite Camp? Besides Grennon has anyone else confirmed attendance at the camp? Heres hoping JB can bring in a few big time recruits on campus.

  • Tom_McC

Plumlee or Amir are not program changing recruits. They both certainly have upside but they also have their share of flaws and while I do think they can be highly productive college players at some point in their careers, they aren't immediate impact guys. And by immediate impact I mean they aren't going to turn UM into immediate FF team or even a Top 32-64 type team for that matter.

  • Brian W

Ray Lee (PG) and Jalen Reynolds (PF) have said they plan to attend. The U-M elite camp is on June 24, 2010. The team camp follows on June 25-26, 2010.

  • Brian W: Don't you sleep? :-) Also, if you get a chance can you shoot me an email (

  • Bluebufoon

Anyone heard anything new about Matt Vogrich ? This is the player we need to step-up this off-season but unfortunately I haven't heard his name mentioned too much.

  • Brian W

Dylan, I sent you an email last night.

  • John

Monte Morris is going to be a top player in his class.
