I know OSU ran 1-3-1 zone and they’re really big all over the court.

you want as much height and length on the court as possible especially for the 1-3-1 thats how ground is covered and you take up space and create difficulties for the other team to score, plus i also think mclimans is going to be a much bigger factor than people think……….hes tall and can shoot and i suspect by next season weight is not going to be an issue……..post moves i would hope are his main concern at this point

the 1-3-1 is going to be a great defensive scheme when you get the right guys to play it…………thats going to win michigan games eventually………….really cant wait to see what happen when players with height have consistent solid mins

Who says they haven’t, WB? All the breaks went against us this year and this team never really got it together. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if 2010-11 was a similar season to last year.

After watching the Selection Show, it’s a disgrace that the University of Michigan can’t build a basketball program to be in that tournament at least every other year; if not, every year.

Especially with the basketball talent we have in this state. I hope this is a major priority of Mr. Brandon’s.

I know it hurt this year but I am really excited that McLimans and Morgan red-shirted. I reallt think McLimans will play a nice backup role next year. Still needs some meat on the frame but will play some. I think if Horford comes, he is a redshirt and we rotate Mclimans, Morgan, and Smotrycz with Novak getting a little run at 4 when we go small. Horford is a little bit of a project and I think a redshirt year would be great for him to adjust ala McLimans.

Mattski, I totally agree with you on the 1-3-1. If we can get Manny to really want to play D…he could do some damage running the baseline. Who do you put in the middle when McLimans and Morgan are in together or do you just not run it then?

Two pieces of encouraging news: Smotrycz nominated for McDonald’s All-American is great. I thought he had faded a little this year. . . And if UCLA is having problems, my hopes for Ziegler rise. The more I learn about him the more impressed I am. If Beilein is going to his games, we’re still in the hunt. Plus, I’ll bet his dad wants to get to see some of his games. Girlfriend AND best friend here? C’mon! And I know he likes Manny, too.

Don’t give up on the 1-3-1 just yet. Let’s get a quick, tall team in and see how it works.

Hadn’t heard about Clarke. Seems like his transfer situation isn’t final yet either. He’s one of the best three point shooters but he’s only 6-foot. Not sure how that would effect roster composition. Definitely a lights out shooter but who knows where he would want to go.

Don’t forget about Mclimans he can be a contributer off the bench!!! If Ziegler doesn’t come what about Rotnei Clarke from Arkansas I seen he is considering transferring and is a John Beilein type player who can shoot the 3 well!!
