@Ypsi There was a message on another board about things looking really good for a 2011 big man. Don't know any details or who it was.

If the Horford offer is in fact fact and not rumor it would be nice to have him signed quick so they could than turn their focus to Trey or a player similar to him... A class of Evan, Tim Jr. , Horford and Trey would be a huge step in recruiting and would help shut up the "Beilein Critics"...

This is an outstanding senior class this year in the state. We can't get shut-out. I'm tired of the Indiana kids as well. I liked Stu and Zack last year, but the more I watch them they look like Horizon or Summitt league players. They can't be starting on a good Big Ten school.

(sorry for posting this again, but for some reason, my earlier comments on this were deleted/not posted for some reason)

Hey Tweeter and Brick,

What is the rumor about a 2011 big man that you mentioned above? Which one? I would be ecstatic to hear some good news about Williams or Plumlee or Zeller.

With regards to Costello and his recruitment. I work at BCW where Matt goes to school and I would be more worried about Ohio State right now then Michigan State. It's still really early on but I think OSU is on top right now. MSU and Michigan are next but all the schools obviously still have a chance. I just know Matt really likes the assistant coach from OSU.

I'd say that the problem the last two years hasn't been losing battles in-state, but that there haven't been many recruiting battles to fight in the state. The 2008 and 2009 classes were extremely weak, which highlights why it's important to extend the recruiting focus beyond the state of Michigan. Izzo has done just that by grabbing high level recruits out of Ohio to go along with his in-state recruiting.

Also, great win for Oakland tonight. Glad they made the tourney. I will certainly be rooting for them although they are probably looking at a 14 or 15 seed.

Dont care where the players come from as long as they can play. Its nice to do well instate because it hopefully starts pipelines for future recruits and its always easier to get local kids to commit, but overall getting quality players is the bottom line. If you can get them consistently out of state then it doesnt make a difference.

The problem UM has had, is not losing the instate battles in recruiting, its losing battles everywhere.
