3, Manny Harris and 34, DeShawn Sims sitting on the bench, during Michigan's 73-45 victory over Iowa, in the first round of the 2009 Big Ten Tournament held in Indianapolis on March 12.I don’t usually devote a post to just one article, but this one is worth it. Jeff Goodman put together a wonderful piece on John Beilein, Manny Harris, DeShawn Sims, and dealing with the numerous skeptics from Detroit. Here’s the lede:

DeShawn Sims had just finished up his freshman season at Michigan when he heard the news that John Beilein had been hired to replace Tommy Amaker. Manny Harris was the Wolverines’ top signee and the word quickly swirled that he would explore other options.

“People were saying Beilein’s system was for white boys,” Sims said.

“I heard he didn’t even like players that dunk,” added the athletic Harris.

The article features quotes from Harris, Sims, The Family’s Speedy Walker, and 2010 commitment Carlton Brundidge. It’s definitely worth a read.

The article is a great read. In my opinion, it gives a little glimpse at how Beilein has really won over some skeptics, including some of our very own fans, by turning this program around in just two short years. Here’s to Beilein getting a lifetime contract.

Great article. It is good to hear Sims and Harris say he made them a better player. Players want to not only to go to a winning team, but with a coach who will help them improve their game. Hope recruits are listening and watching.

Glad Manny helped us with the recruiting aspect. I just can’t wait till the season starts up it seems like it will never come!

Preseason top 25 comes out tomorrow, preseason Naismith top 50 as well. Big Ten Media Day is tomorrow and I’ll be posting stuff, although I’m not there.

    Should be a fun day.

When you are a genuinely nice guy, and have been that way for your entire career, people are not going to try and tear you down…they will write articles like this.

I assume you’ll keep us updated as soon as they come out?

I have a feeling that U of M’s 2011 recruiting class will be in the top 20. CB is a good start and I expect we will add 2 more pieces of the puzzle.
