I would expect the team to play small again this year.
Morris/LLP
Stu
Manny
Novak
DeShawn

Gibson will come off the bench/start when needed against bigger teams, but I would expect this to be the starting lineup for most of the season.

Novak's athleticism is not only surprising but really encouraging given everything else he brings to the table. A lineup of LLP, Manny, Novak, Gibson and Sims with Morris, Douglass, Vogrich, Wright and Cronin backing them up looks like a decent possibility. I like the athleticism, size and shooting ability of that starting lineup. The key guy is really Gibson and whether he's progressed enough to provide consistency at the 4. (It's crazy to think he and Wright started last year and Peedi came off the bench during most of the pre-conference season.)

McLimans, Morgan and Akunne could work their way into the rotation, and along with Person, Puls and Bartelstein will make practices more competitive than ever.

(Info from managers) Novak would practice that dunk like 30 times each practice and would usually get it once if lucky, hard to imagine he would make it in the dunk contest like that.

Thanks for posting the video Dylan. I was particularly interested to see Cronin and was pleasantly surprised. He isn't a deer, but he moves pretty well for a young 7-footer. His jump hook looks like a nice go to move as he develops his back to the basket game. His form on the three looked decent also...good follow through. I'd never seen him play before, and after his surgery, I wasn't sure if he would ever be able to fully recover, but it looks like he has a future with the team, and at some point is going to be a solid contributor. Can't teach height...and I'm glad to have a 7-foot presence in the paint.

Just a few quick observations:

Morris will definitely benefit from some Beilein coaching, especially this three-point shot. Right now he gets only about one full rotation on his three point shot, making it look like a knuckle ball.

Vogrich has a sweet stroke and pure rotation, which I know Beilein stresses with his Beilein Ball. I don't think there is a team in the country that could match us man for man on five shooters.

McLimans was very impressive to me. I was not expecting much from him at all, but he looks very solid. His defense was most impressive, as he took on Peedi man-to-man and forced him into tough shots time and time again. There were at least two times that Sims tried to put a fake on him and McLimans kept his feet on the ground and another in which Sims tried to spin to the baseline but was completely cut off. McLimans also has a sweet stroke, especially for a big man.

Finally, there was no question as to who the most impressive player was. Zack Novak not only shined in the dunk contest with his ups, but also had a solid scrimmage, nailing two threes, including one from near NBA range. He is noticeably thinner and quicker and will most definitely be an asset on the court.
