Thanks for all the time and effort, heart and soul you put into umhoops.com. I’m a UM grad (’01) and currently living in (wait for it …) Turkey. I swear I had nothing to do with whatever problems arose with the site mid-season. I know nothing about computer programming.

But I do know some things about Michigan basketball and quality reporting/analysis. You’re doing a great job. I don’t get to watch too many of the games (they often start at like 2am), but I do get to read your recap every time and I’m loving it.

I’m new to reading blogs, actually. Just started this fall when a friend tipped me off to Brian and MGoBlog. He wasn’t really covering basketball and I was dying to read about the team. He had a link for something called “UMHoops” and it’s been scratching where I was itching. Thanks!

I’ve been a M Basketball fan since watching the 1989 team shock the world. I loved the fab five. I’ve hated Digger Phelps ever 1993, when he said that second place for two years was good enough. And I’ve been a faithful and hopeful fan through the dark years. This year has been so inspiring, so refreshing, for all the reasons you’ve mentioned.

One last thing. Thanks for being one of the few hopeful, optimistic, non-cynical M fans and commentators. I think we Wolverines often ruin our own fun with too much cynicism. Your commentary is anything but. Keep it up!

I have been following UM basketball since Eric Turner(Flint Central) and Antoine Joubert were blue chip recruits, early 80′s for you young bucks. This site has really given us fans a sense of community almost like a “brotherhood”, and this in turn has made being a fan all the more enjoyable. For this I would like to say thanks Dylan!

Your mention of Big Ten Wonk reminds me of how much I miss that site. I think Basketball Prospectus is so disorganized that it isn’t worth the time. Who thought it was a great idea to randomly mix college and NBA coverage with no easy way to tell them apart?

Great site Dylan! Classy, informative, well-written – you are doing a great job. I have been a season ticket holder for 20 years and have never enjoyed a season as much as this one. UMHoops added a lot to that. I made a small donation to the cause – I hope others will too.
