When is Darius Morris visiting ??
Is U-M basketball still recruiting Andy Brown ??
Why should someone follow the sport closely when the recruiting practices that decides which teams get the best players are so despicable?
Why bitch and moan about what we don’t have ??
New practice facility is on the drawing board and Beilein and his staff are recruiting solid players– the future for Michigan basketball is bright !!!
No offense but your comments are that of a loser,
winners roll up there sleeves and get after they don’t whine abt what they don’t have.
Go Blue !!!
HAHAHA,… these posts crack me up man
I respect what Belein is doing with the solid shooters to fit his scheme, but UM bball will not return to the level it is suppose to be at until he stakes claim in the city of Detroit..Maybe this year there was nobody of substance..but in years to come, he better make a splash
my question
relating to the post above, what chance do we have at keith appling in 2010, he is more than likley going to be the top guard in michigan NEXT YEAR if not than still one of the top guards, at this point would we consider him a michigan state lock, or are they going after bigger fish and leaving keith for our taking?
I think Michigan needs to have a recruiting presence in the state to maintain a successful program. However, I think targeting the best players from Detroit is very over-rated. How many Detroit players has MSU had? What success did Michigan have besides Rose-Webber? Robert Traylor was pretty good.
Michigan first needs to get back to respectability on the court. Manny Harris was a great signing and they’re going to have to work with a collection of decent, hard-working guys that fit the system first. Once they have more on-court success you’ll start seeing them attract bigger names.
I think MSU’s past ten years is very telling. They won their title with a collection of good but not great players that stayed for four years. Then they attracted all of the 5-star guys like RIchardson and Randolph. What happened? They left early, became a distraction, and were largely a disappointment on the court. They’ve been pretty successful again in the past 3-4 years with a collection of good, but not great players who stick around. THAT is the way to develop a good program.
Amen, AC.
How serious are we looking at Marcus Jordan, Michael’s son? Wouldn’t a kid like Jordan’s son have the potential to bring in a ton of exposure? With MJ at games and all, wouldn’t it help regain some interest in U of M? Although, now that UM is an adidas school I wouldn’t be surprised if that automatically crosses Michigan off Jordan’s short list.
Isn’t this whole, “Beilien needs to recruit Detroit!! If Beilien can’t recruit Detroit a comet is going to fall on Crisler and the basketball program will never recover!!!” a little extreme? I think it is important to get talent from the D that fits the team, but if we need to go to Indiana to get shooters, we got to do what we got to do.
Shooters are good, but we cannot afford to see the Chris Douglas Roberts, Joe and Jordan Crawfords, Alex Legions, Malik Hairston, Tejuan Porter..at one point Missouri had 3 kids from Detroit that got away..makes no sense. Have to have some type of connection, Manny and Laval will help..but dont ignore your back yard..especially when Caliparri, and Ernie Kent have pipelines with ties!
