Jordan Morgan ($) update over on Scout, he has picked a date to announce. This one will go in favor of the Maize and Blue as has been pretty evident since his recent offer.
Lacy continues to be on the top of the Laval Lucas-Perry recruitment, the meeting with Beilein is tomorrow and this one should also goto the Maize and Blue. Don’t think that Laval will even take any more visits because the family wants to get it settled ASAP.
Two good additions for Michigan that should be official in the next week, both also seem to be from very good families and have their heads on straight. More on them as things progress.

Great day for Michigan fans, we finally got our coach. I think he’ll be a good one. From a basketball stand point the Terrelle Pryor situation becomes one to watch. Kid is an animal at the wing and a great slasher. Football would be his number one sport, not letting him play ball until January but still the kid is a top 25 hoops prospect. The hole on the roster at the wing is so huge that this could be a gift falling into Beilein’s lap. This will definetely be a developing story over the coming days and weeks.

Program is already in pretty bad shape, so I am not sure how much this does any more damage. We are what we are at this point. A team who’s two best players are freshman, and third best player is an inconsistent forward with a poor handle. The refs were absolutely terrible as you can see here. But this wasn’t what killed us in my opinion. The game slipped away a few plays after the shot clock no call. Ronnie had a WIDE open look from three (when we are down 4) and misses it. He has to make this shot. Giordan Watson comes down and drains a three, we don’t score, Watson hits a floater… 9pt game and it didn’t get close again til Dion Harris er Ekpe Udoh misses the front end of the 1 and 1.

A lot of people are wondering about why Manny didn’t play and saying we need Legion. I tend to disagree. Continue reading ‘Another devastating loss’

Rumors are swirling about Kelvin Sampson being on his way out at Indiana. Buck Rampage at CobraBrigade posted this update on the situation.
I heard tonight from a supposedly reliable source that Kelvin Sampson is going to be fired as head coach of the Indiana University men’s basketball team. We all already know the trouble that he has already been in with the phone call violations and what not. I have heard that other trouble has been brewing in Hoosier land that deals directly with the Jordan Crawford and Armon Bassett suspensions. Supposedly, these suspensions stem from the Chicago Invitational Challenge that IU took part in from 18-24 November. The reason for these suspensions has been a very vaguely portrayed as a “breaking of team rules”. I believe and I think a lot of people have assumed that these suspensions stemmed from some type of drug use. These are college kids…..they were chill’n in Chi-town, with some hometown fools (Ellis and Thomas), this is a very possible reason for these suspensions. And it appears that it could a plausible reason for Sampson’s dismissal.
Interesting to seem the least, this could be the last straw in Bloomington for the man in charge.

Michigan is coming off their thrashing of Oakland in a game that was supposed to be a “battle for the second best team in the state” and has gotten some confidence and swagger back after scoring over 100 for the first time since 1998. Central also is hot on a three game winning streak winning at Detroit, at Robert Morris, and versus Cal State Fullerton.
Giordan Watson is the kid that Michigan has to look out for, the little point guard from Birmingham is averaging 16.4 points per game. Kelvin Grady will draw the matchup in what should be an interesting one.
The biggest thing that I will look for tomorrow is improvements on defense. The defense can’t keep giving up this many points per game or open shots per game. The team looks like they are thinking way too much on the defensive side of the ball leading to late rotations and open shots.
Recruiting
Quick recruiting update on the transfers. As Eric Lacy reported it looks like Laval Lucas-Perry will end up in the Maize and Blue. Perry is a great get and shores up our depth at the guard, especially with the likely departure of Jerret Smith. Laval Lucas-Perry video from YouTube. Alex Legion looks much more likely to headed to Champagne (or possibly Notre Dame) in the near future. The burned bridges in Ann Arbor were too much to overcome. Most players, including many of the top players, on the team do not have a good relationship with Legion from their prior experience (most of the instate players AAU ball together at one time or another). The first break up between Alex Annette Legion didn’t go over to well either. If Legion goes to Illinois like is expected, we would get to see him twice a year which could be a fun one. Without Legion the wing position on next years roster continues to be weak, more on this with a couple targets later on.

The blog is going to be focused on Michigan basketball and extending somewhat to look at the Big Ten and the rest of college basketball. There is not really a website out there that is fully devoted to Michigan basketball and while there certainly aren’t tons of fans (proven by Crisler attendence records) there are enough that a site like this is worth its while. With this site I hope to unite Michigan basketball fans across the spectrum (bring together the “BBall Mafia” some might say) and create a niche for Michigan basketball fans.
Who am I? My name is Dylan Burkhardt, a sophomore at the University of Michigan and have had basketball season tickets for the last 10 years. I have been a fan since the first time I ventured to Crisler Arena and it has only grown since then even through the tough times over the last ten years. I am making a website because I have experience in the field (previously running StreetballOnline and now running DailyDevils.com (don’t worry I am not Duke fan). So we will see where this goes, the plan is to let it grow naturally. Thanks for checking it out and come back.
